Position Summary

CPA Manitoba is seeking an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant to provide contractor services as a Practice Inspector and Advisor.

The contractor will conduct practice inspections remotely or in-person at CPA firms across Manitoba using inspection software. Responsibilities include preparing inspection reports for review by the Senior Director, Stakeholder Services & Engagement, the inspected firm, and CPA Manitoba’s Practice Inspection Committee. Inspections are typically scheduled throughout the year, based on the availability of both the inspector and the firm.

Contractors are compensated hourly and are responsible for managing their own taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses. This flexible arrangement is ideal for a senior CPA seeking autonomy while contributing to the protection of the public interest and the advancement of the profession.

 

This role will also be responsible for providing guidance to members and firms on the following matters:  

 

  • Respond to members on the education, examination and practical experience requirements required to provide public accounting services
  • Respond to members on the process to register a firm to provide regulated services
  • Respond to enquiries from students/candidates, members, firms and the public with respect to the Code of Professional Conduct, CPA Manitoba Act, Bylaws and Policies as well as the CPA Canada Handbook
  • Liaise with national colleagues to identify issues and develop tools and resources for members.
  • Represent CPA Manitoba on the national Member Advisory Resources working group.

 

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant with at least eight years of recent experience (manager, senior manager or partner level) at a public accounting services firm providing conducting audit, review and compilation engagements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of standards in the CPA Canada Handbook, the CPA Manitoba Code of Professional Conduct and firm administration best practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
