CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week).

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Registrations, the Corporate Registrations Officer is responsible to provide day-to-day professional and timely service to all registrants, with primary emphasis on serving corporate registrants (professional accounting firm (PAF), professional corporation (PC) and professional service provider (PSP)) ensuring that these clients have met requirements mandated under legislative authorities, specifically, the initial and ongoing registration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee corporate registrant, prospective registrant, and out-of-province registrant enquiries.
  • Process and analyze corporate registrant submissions and provide reports and recommendations to the Manager, Associate Registrar, and/or Registrar.
  • Assess and review corporate registration and re-registration submissions in accordance with legislative authorities, including follow-up on any outstanding requirements.
  • Identify, monitor and follow-up on potential member non-compliance with the CPA Alberta legislation pertaining to PAF/PSP.
  • Assist clients with annual corporate renewal processes.
  • Oversee the completeness and accuracy of corporate registrant database and records.
  • Liaise with other provincial CPA bodies or authorities for verification of information relating to corporate registrants, as necessary.
  • Provide appropriate verification of corporate registration to third party inquiries.
  • Analyze trends and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of two years related experience in an office environment, with independent decision-making authority.
  • A combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust plans and priorities to work efficiently and effectively in changing situations. Understands and appreciates diverse perspectives.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation with ability to build good working relationships with different stakeholders.

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Previous experience with database maintenance.
