Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC)

OMVIC is currently searching for a Manager, Education for our Toronto corporate office.

Who is OMVIC?

OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism, and ensuring fair, honest, and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Role Summary:

The Manager, Education will lead the development and implementation of educational programs, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and dealer webinars. This role ensures that industry professionalism is maintained through CPD on regulations, standards, code of ethics and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the education team to deliver accurate education programs and services
  • Oversee the creation of curriculum and training content including online courses, workshops and seminars
  • Evaluate and update educational content and materials to ensure compliance with legislation and learning objectives
  • Design and implement comprehensive educational programs for all registrants and industry professionals
  • Develop education plans and budgets for review and approval
  • Collaborate with OMVIC subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and relevant
  • Recommend strategies for enhancing CPD content and course execution
  • Conduct ongoing audits of education programs to ensure learning needs, outcomes, and competencies are met
  • Research best practices to stay current with trends and developments in adult learning and regulations applicable to OMVIC and stakeholders
  • Motivate and inspire the team to develop innovative strategies to learning objectives
  • Develop team expertise to proactively manage risks and opportunities
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Education or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in people management and adult education
  • Strong understanding of CPD and the regulatory/government sector
  • Able to attend events or conduct presentations throughout Ontario
  • Be available for occasional functions outside of regular work hours including evenings and weekends
  • Possess valid G driver’s license an asset
  • Travel may be required
