About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Investigations Specialist to plan and complete investigations on behalf of the College, coordinate investigations with external agencies as required, review matters related to conduct in practice and advise teams across the College, manage inquiries related to alleged unauthorized practice, and provide best practice guidance to the development of procedures related to investigations. As the Investigations Specialist, your duties will include:
- Identifying matters requiring further investigation on behalf of the Registrar.
- Investigating and managing member health concerns utilizing the Board of Inquiry process.
- Conducting fair and unbiased investigations as needed for complaints and impairment matters.
- Executing undercover investigations as necessary.
- Advising the Registrar when further investigation/prosecution of alleged unauthorized practice is appropriate.
- Preparing cease and desist correspondence and monitoring compliance with College requests.
- Liaising with legal counsel as necessary.
- Coordinating with external agencies or investigators when needed.
- Investigating advertising infractions.
- Clarifying and educating complainants, witnesses, and members about College processes.
- Planning and structuring investigations to ensure efficiency, thoroughness, and clear case progression.
- Completing investigations, consulting with the Principal, Investigations and Resolutions as required.
- Recognizing risks and potential problems and directing complex cases to the Principal, Investigations and Resolutions.
- Conducting inspections of facilities on the direction of the Registrar to determine if the facility is being operated under and in accordance with a certificate of accreditation.
- Preparing reports and case materials for timely review by Committees and panels.
- Assisting with the development and updating of manuals related to investigations on behalf of the Registrar.
- Ensuring documentation is maintained according to corporate retention schedules and policies.
- Developing relevant external network to consider best practices related to investigations.
- Providing advice on legislative, policy, or case matters identified by College teams as requiring the Specialist’s expertise.
- Identifying and reporting trends in cases and investigations to support College decision-making.

- Knowledge about or experience working in a regulatory environment.
- Strong time management, organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, competing demands and deadlines.
- Ability to travel within Ontario, in own vehicle.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Adobe Suite.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline such as Law, Criminology, or equivalent.
- Public Administration or Health and/ or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Minimum five years in investigations or inspections within a regulatory environment.
- CLEAR level 1 and 2 Investigator training or equivalent.
Salary Range
$92,000 – $124,000 annually
