THE ROLE

MDR Strategy Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graphic Design Intern for a full-time summer placement. Reporting to the Creative Lead and working closely with the Director, Communications, Strategy, the successful candidate will support a collaborative team in the development of corporate design materials for a wide range of clients in Nova Scotia and across Canada.

This position offers recent graduates an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the creation of visual assets for print, web, and social media.
  • Support the layout and production of reports, presentations, infographics, and other client deliverables.
  • Contribute to brand development and visual identity systems
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, accessible, and consistent design across platforms.
  • Apply accessibility and design best practices (e.g., AODA, WCAG).
  • Prepare files for professional printing or digital publication, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent graduate (2024 or 2025) of a post-secondary program in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); familiarity with Figma, Canva, or similar tools considered an asset.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of layout, typography, and visual composition.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce work suitable for both print and digital applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to producing accessible and inclusive content.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an on-site role. Candidates must be located in Nova Scotia and be able to work at MDR’s office in Bedford.

COMPENSATION

  • Total compensation for the term, paid monthly is $7,000 based on a May 12 start date. If the successful candidate is returning to post-secondary education in September 2025, MDR Strategy Group will provide a $1,000 tuition scholarship.
