THE ROLE
An inaugural role reflecting the rapid growth of MDR Strategy Group Ltd., the Director, Organizational Leadership and Design Strategy will lead our regulatory management consulting services focusing on strategic governance and operations. Reporting to the CEO and a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will also build essential relationships and be a trusted advisor to stakeholders, enhancing our reputation and thought leadership in licensing and professional regulation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Consulting
- Support regulatory bodies in compliance with legislation while ensuring operational excellence in organizational management.
- Provide guidance on best practices in policy development, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives to support clients’ public interest mandate.
- Lead the design and execution of consulting engagements for regulatory and non-profit clients, driving strategic planning, organizational start-up and transformation, amalgamation, and comprehensive governance initiatives.
- Provide expert advisory services and thought leadership to develop tailored, innovative solutions that meet client-specific regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.
- Oversee and manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality governance reviews and organisational design strategies.
- Cultivate robust client relationships through proactive engagement and by acting as a trusted advisor on complex change management and transformation projects.
- Monitor project performance and adherence to budget and timelines, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Project Management
- Oversee assigned projects from contract signing to completion.
- Prepare overall project plans, develop project scopes and milestones, and oversee project budgets and finances.
- Manage project teams to ensure on-time, effective, and efficient delivery of assignments.
- Manage client teams.
- Manage budgets and track costs.
- Assess project risks and work with senior leadership to implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Present deliverables and reports to clients as required.
- Complete monthly project status reports.
Team Leadership
- Oversee assigned project teams.
- Facilitate check-in meetings.
- Manage questions, concerns, project risks.
- Maintain strong working relationships to ensure on-time, effective, and efficient delivery of assignments.
- Collect data and other information for monthly project status reports.
- Ensure efficient submission of timesheets and billing statements.
Client Management
- Maintain regular contact with clients.
- Ensure timely responses to client inquiries.
- Provide expertise on project activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- LLB/JD with license to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction is strongly preferred.
- MBA, MPA or other relevant graduate-level business degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Ongoing professional development in non-profit or regulatory leadership, digital technologies, and other relevant disciplines considered an asset.
Professional Experience
- 10-15 years of professional experience that includes a minimum of 7-10 years of recent experience at a Canadian regulatory body, government, or relevant non-profit organization.
- Minimum five years of experience as a Registrar, Deputy Registrar, or other senior leadership team member at a Canadian regulatory body, government, or relevant non-profit organization.
- Experience reporting to a Board of Directors as an organizational lead,
- Current or recent non-profit Board member experience with in-depth knowledge of governance models and procedures preferred.
- Strong understanding of the world of licensing and professional regulation essential.
- Strong understanding of methodologies and approaches relevant to strategic planning, program evaluation, and governance reviews.
- Extensive background in developing and executing strategic business processes.
- Demonstrated track record in leadership excellence.
- Previous experience in transformation or organizational transition preferred.
- Previous consulting experience an asset.
- Experience working within a lean/small business “roll up your sleeves” environment an asset.

CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary for this role, ranging from $150K to $210K, will be commensurate with qualifications, and additional employment offerings include medical and dental benefits, incentives for revenue generation, and an employee retention appreciation program.
