Location: Anywhere in Canada.
Founded in 1992, CAPR is a national, not-for-profit organization that provides centralized evaluation and credentialing services to Canada’s provincial and territorial physiotherapy regulators. CAPR verifies the credentials of internationally educated physiotherapists and administers the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) to all candidates seeking eligibility for independent licensure in Canada. With a renewed governance model, a bold innovation agenda, and a commitment to public protection and service excellence, CAPR plays a critical role in supporting regulatory effectiveness and professional entry to practice. It is within this context of transformation that CAPR is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer to guide its continued evolution and impact.
As CEO, you will report to a national Board of Directors and provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the organization. You will lead a high-performing team and collaborate closely with the Board to develop CAPR’s next strategic plan, guiding the organization through its continued growth and transformation. With responsibility for governance, stakeholder engagement, financial sustainability, service delivery, and regulatory compliance, you will position CAPR for lasting innovation and relevance—expanding services beyond physiotherapy, implementing virtual assessment models, and strengthening operational performance. You will integrate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) by embedding these principles into CAPR’s culture, systems, and practices—both internally and through its external partnerships.
This is a national, high-impact leadership role requiring exceptional strategic capabilities, strong communication skills, and deep knowledge of regulatory and multi-stakeholder environments. As CAPR’s official spokesperson, you will represent the organization in national forums and across the broader regulatory landscape—strengthening partnerships with regulators, academic institutions, professional associations, and other key stakeholders. Internally, you will serve as Secretary to the Board and as Privacy Officer, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and supporting the Board’s evolving governance practices. You will also lead the continued transition from a member-based to a service-based model, reinforcing CAPR’s position as a trusted leader in credentialing and evaluation services.
As the ideal candidate, you are a bold, strategic, and respected executive with extensive leadership experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You bring strong governance, business, and financial acumen, and have successfully led organizations through meaningful change and growth. A big-picture thinker with sharp analytical and conceptual skills, you are known for your inclusive leadership, ability to build high-performing teams, and commitment to transparency, trust, and collaboration. You excel in stakeholder engagement and consensus-building, and bring strong public, government, and media relations capabilities. You are comfortable navigating technology-enabled environments and understand how to leverage digital tools for operational effectiveness. Experience in the regulatory, evaluation, or not-for-profit sectors is considered an asset, as are bilingual capabilities in English and French.
