IT Systems Analyst

Job Posting: IT Systems Analyst, Executive Office, Full-time, Permanent

The College of Dietitians of Ontario (the “College”) is the regulatory body established by the provincial government to regulate the practice of over 4,500 dietitians in Ontario in the interest of the public and public safety. The College ensures that registered dietitians in Ontario provide safe, ethical, and competent care, and are accountable for maintaining the standards of professional practice.         

The College is operating on a remote-first/hybrid model with required in-office days for collaboration in our downtown Toronto office.

Position Summary

The IT Systems Analyst is responsible for assessing, maintaining, and improving IT systems, supporting software and database development, and ensuring system security. Reporting to the Director, Governance and Regulatory Policy, the IT Systems Analyst plays a critical role in the College’s overall data governance strategy. Key responsibilities include oversight of a CRM database (iMIS), troubleshooting technical issues, coordinating with external vendors, providing IT support, maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect the integrity and security of the College’s systems and data, and maintaining a working knowledge of online payment systems and processes to support secure and efficient financial transactions.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong technical background, eager to contribute to the College’s IT infrastructure and data security initiatives. Duties include:

Software, Database and Website Management

  • Act as project lead for database (iMIS) projects, work with external vendors and internal users to assess, plan, implement and test new or updated applications
  • Maintain and update database components to support various processes across the organization (i.e., staff view, webforms, etc.)
  • Ensure functionality of custom applications (VBA), macros, and MS Office automation tools
  • Perform SQL Transact programming and ensure data integrity
  • Make recommendations for enhancing software to improve efficiency
  • Assist in monitoring CDO’s website for usability and accessibility

Information & Data Reporting

  • Ensure efficient data collection processes and submit reports as required
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through robust validation processes
  • Present data in user-friendly formats to support decision-making
  • Develop and maintain system documentation and procedures

IT Infrastructure, Security and Support

  • Working with external IT vendors, monitor external IT support tickets to ensure smooth functioning of IT systems and networks
  • Provide technical support to staff, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network issues
  • Assist with IT asset procurement and maintain inventory, renewals, upgrades, and licensing renewals
  • Maintain and recommend improvements to network security, backup systems, and cybersecurity protocols
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies
  • Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud-based systems
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to recommend improvements to existing systems and processes
  • Maintain a working knowledge of online payment systems and processes to support secure and efficient financial transactions.
  • Assist with implementation of and revisions to disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Assist with Office 365 support and network/hardware deployment and upkeep
  • Oversee IT risk assessments and recommend security improvements
  • Assist with the annual IT budget by working with program directors to assess technology needs for various College projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial constraints
  • Develop training materials and conduct IT training sessions for employees, Committee, and Board members

Preferred Experience and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, system analysis, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, Office 365, and Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with IT infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and cloud computing
  • Familiarity with IT frameworks (ITIL, COBIT, JIRA, SCRUM) and security standards (ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and IT contracts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • IT certifications (e.g., MCDBA, MCSA, CompTIA, A+) and SharePoint administration experience are assets
  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset

Compensation

Starting salary range $75,000 commensurate with experience, plus full benefits.
