About the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO)
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario regulates the delivery of veterinary medicine in Ontario. All veterinarians who practice in Ontario must be licensed by the College. In serving the public interest, the College seeks to understand the risks involved in the practice of veterinary medicine and collaborates with partners to develop solutions which reduce the potential for harm to animals and people.

The College:
• Issues licenses to qualified individuals.
• Sets standards to improve the quality and safety of veterinary care.
• Inspects and accredits veterinary facilities to assure a safe, professional environment.
• Investigates and resolves concerns about a veterinarian and their practice.
• Administers quality practice programs to promote ongoing improvement and growth.

The College licenses more than 5,000 veterinarians and accredits over 2,300 veterinary facilities in Ontario. The role and authority of the College is set out in the Veterinarians Act and regulations made under this legislation.

About this Unique Opportunity
The purpose of the Principal, Licensure and Professional Corporations role is to lead the licensure and professional corporation programs, provide oversight for all licensure matters, support the Registration Committee, and lead projects relevant to the licensure program. 
This is a hybrid role enabling a satisfying balance of remote work and in person collaboration out of our office is Guelph, ON.

Primary Responsibilities
The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The tasks and the time spent performing each task may vary. 

• Coordinates and oversees the Licensure and Professional Corporations programs.
• Manages licensure and professional corporations’ database and assures records are maintained according to corporate retention schedules and policy.
• Contributes to the development of the annual program budget and monitors adherence.
• Coordinates annual licence renewal process.
• Manages the College’s Jurisprudence exam, liaises with exam proctors, and coordinates revisions as needed.
• Oversees case management of licensure matters.
• Drafts reports using College data that facilitates effective organizational decision making.
• Represent CVO as Program Ambassador by responding to complex queries related to licensure matters from applicants and the public, drafting communications about licensure and professional corporations,
• Ensures licensure and Registration Committee polices and procedures are current and attending special events as needed.
• Support the Registration Committee by drafting meeting agendas and preparing meeting packages, providing advice to the Committee as needed, coordinating the annual orientation for Committee members, and liaising with HPARB, ILC, and lawyers related to matters as needed.
• Draft reports for the Office of the Fairness Commissioner as required.

What you Bring to the Role
• University degree in business or health administration, or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in progressively responsible roles.
• Experience in a similar role in a regulatory environment is considered an asset.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership role, overseeing a small team.
• Financial acumen with experience preparing and managing a departmental budget in accordance with internal policy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various partners, both internal and external, with appropriate discretion.
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to manage overlapping timelines.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, cloud database systems, and virtual meeting platforms.
