ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will take a hands-on, strategic approach to leadership, overseeing the full range of financial functions at CMTO. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager, Finance to lead our financial operations and provide strategic guidance to support CMTO’s long-term success.

As a key member of our team, you will manage financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and payroll functions, while working closely with internal teams and non-financial stakeholders. You will play an essential role in maintaining financial stability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Manager of Finance, you will lead, coach, and mentor a small finance team, fostering collaboration and acting as a trusted business partner to support internal teams. You will drive continuous improvement in financial processes, ensuring financial information is communicated clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

A key aspect of your role will be ensuring compliance with CRA, the Ministry of Finance, and other governmental regulations. This includes overseeing timely remittance and reconciliation of payroll source deductions, EHT, HST, and tax returns. You will also maintain financial systems, including the chart of accounts and account mapping, ensuring appropriate segregation of duties and managing authority matrices and approval workflows.

You will apply and interpret internal financial policies to ensure sound governance, overseeing quarterly financial reporting with detailed variance analysis to highlight risks or concerns. Monitoring surpluses and deficits, you’ll proactively alert leadership to potential risks and project year-end financial outcomes.

Leading the annual audit process, you will ensure CMTO is audit-ready, overseeing the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, preparing working papers, and adhering to audit timelines. Your budgeting and forecasting responsibilities will include developing budget templates, collaborating with budget owners, consolidating company-wide budgets, and ensuring accurate data uploads into the financial system.

Managing cash flow and liquidity is also central to the role, including maintaining monthly cash flow projections, identifying risks or opportunities, and explaining significant changes in cash balances. You will also assist the Manager, People & Culture with payroll processing, ensuring ADP-generated G/L reports are accurate and compatible with Sage Intacct, while maintaining up-to-date process documentation.

Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for a proven leader who excels in:

  • Coaching, mentoring, and guiding a finance team.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially with non-financial stakeholders, are essential.
  • Expertise with Sage Intacct, including financial reporting, dashboard creation, and system management, is required.
  • A solid understanding of CRA and Ministry of Finance regulations is crucial, along with proficiency in financial analysis, risk management, and forecasting.
  • Ability to lead audit processes and ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations is a key part of this role.
  • Talent for optimizing business processes and financial systems will be highly valued.

Educational and Professional Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, along with a professional CPA or CFA designation (or in progress) is required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of experience in finance or accounting,
  • Two (2) or more years in a people leadership role.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, financial systems, and ADP payroll processing
